Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. You are a blessing to us. How is Samuel? My back is better so I stopped taking any more medicine right now. The Lord continue to bless you all in a very special way.

I agree with Matt above. I have been in circles where a big distinction is made between rhema and logos when, in reality, they are very close in meaning according to the better lexicons.

This is not to say that the Holy Spirit cannot give a person a specific word to them in their situation. It's just that you do not necessarily have to wait for it in order to get results.

In your testimony, you stated that logos is general revelation or what is possible. But you state that we must get a rhema in order to have faith because until we do we cannot be sure that we can guarantee the promise.

Sorry, but this is error. Not to discount your testimony's details but stop and do a little thinking here.

What God had written in His Word is His Word to us and for us. Whatever it says we can have. For instance, any scripture which promises healing is a provision that has already been made. Why do you need a promise for a promise already made?

In effect, you have to get a "word" to be sure that a "word" which God already spoke is good.

Stay with me here. I do not discount the specific guidance we as believers need for which job to take, whom to marry, and what car to buy, etc. There is no specific scripture which tells us these things.

But those things which are already in His Word are the same things God is ready to do for you if you believe His Word. Again, this does not negate God speaking a verse to you in a moment of need. But in the absence of such, His Word is still good and is still a record of what He has already provided for us in Christ.

This extreme dichotomy between rhema and logos adds another layer to scripture where we have to get the Holy Spirit's permission to act on something that God has already promised you.

Seen in this light, it becomes a stumbling block to many because they are always waiting on a rhema to act on something that God has already given to them.

Great article, such a deep subject. I am still unsure about the distinction being made between logos and rhema. I understand the explanation but I can't fit it into the following arguments:

If the healing promises are only general then why confess them? And are we saying that there is no power in the written word? What about Proverbs 4 where it says to incline your ears speak it etc.

Also how does this fit in with covenant theology that says we have a covenant making God who cannot break a promise or violate His word? If you are saying it is something He COULD DO then aren't we making the covenant more like a contract?

Please help with these thoughts.

Hi Mike,
I am so glad you wrote about this email problem. I have attached the word "witchcraft" to these chain letters many times myself. I never forward them, and never do what they ask. I rebuke them in the name of "Jesus". Thanks for speaking out about them.
Be blessed,
Paula

Mike,
I went to your blog and was pleasantly surprised at how much I agree with you theologically. I assumed that since we had different denominational backgrounds that we would differ significantly on certain issues. I was pleased to read about your thinking concerning the rapture ( I agree totally) and about the important difference concerning logos and rhema ( I agree here also). Praise the Lord!
I believe God is molding many from different backgrounds into like mindedness for these last days. The more we talk and share as a group of men, I think, the more we are going to find out how similar we are.

I am FULLY in support of this effort to come together seeking the presence of Jesus. Like no other time in my life, I believe that is what we need to do together. As you say, we need to be asking Jesus, "How shall we now live?" In my own life, I feel like I have been following the CALL of Christ, and slowly veering away from the One who is Christ - Jesus. I repent of that, and my heart longs for Him. Simply Him, then His call; not the other way around. I have been getting it backward. It is only He who will sustain us and bring us to His call in the days ahead. I believe we are entering a new day. The old is past and the new has come. Just like walking out of darkness into a bright light, I feel blinded at the way ahead. I sense the Holy Spirit calling me to give up control, security and fear; and simply follow the King wherever He goes. I pray for the courage and strength to follow; to lay down my nets of provision, support, safety and knowledge; and seek after Jesus.

I join you in that heart quest for Jesus in this day. --B.F.

Good for you to design something for people to ask for prayer request and seek help, etc. It's amazing that the world meant it for evil but God meant it for good. The internet has now has a prayer warrior counsel.

Amen and Amen,
